Description:

Of course, as an automatic drawing, I wasn't initially aware of what was being portrayed here.

However, because I am not impervious to self-doubt or to being self-critical at times, I quickly recognized that the three figures in this piece are all echoes of the same person;

  • the personification of a negative inner-voice,

  • the personification of an emotionally wounded state (as the recipient and unsuspecting victim of self-abuse),

  • and the wearied projection of anticipated failure (as a foregone conclusion).

Sadly, I've been there and done that. And, it is neither fun nor productive.

But, I must also admit that becoming aware of such behavior and changing the way you speak to and about yourself is deeply empowering, especially when you begin to notice the positive influence it has on your everyday experience.
