If not the first, Broken Egg is at least among the very first of my ballpoint pen drawings, evidenced by its soft tentative lines, which certainly echo a sense of uncertainty with this new medium.

Nonetheless, this piece is still significant from a developmental standpoint, as ballpoint pens were my first departure from standard drawing pencils, introducing color into my work and ultimately setting me on course to discovering oils, which have now become my primary medium.
