Stream of Consciousness
1992

Medium:
Red Ballpoint Pen on Paper
Dimensions:
3 x 1.75 inches
Genre/Style:
Surrealism (Free Association)
Description:
Like all "Automatic" art, this drawing's meaning is purely subjective, presenting a unique opportunity for you (the viewer) to connect with the image on your own terms, as a psychoanalytic encounter and shared experience (as part of an overlapping, collective consciousness).
Although, as previously discussed (in the description for An Incongruous Manifestation ) the utility here (for me) was found in the process of Automatism, to loosen mental restraints and liberate the creative voice (albeit, in its own language).
For this reason, I simply titled this piece based on what it appeared to represent, in my mind's eye; a Subliminal Visual Narrative that is reflected in the automatic process itself; an involuntary impulse often referred to as Stream of Consciousness, in literature.
