Being the optimist that I am... I often underestimate my exertions, in all or nothing efforts to attain a desired end.
However, the imagery in this piece was not pre-meditated. So, like you, I can only offer an interpretation of what this drawing evokes in me, which is the all-too-familiar feeling of a victory that came at too great a cost (a pyrrhic victory); perhaps even serving as a friendly reminder to be more kind to myself.
