Now enlarged, by popular request... the Balloon is a drawing that seems to raise more questions than it answers. It depicts a surrealistic female figure who appears to be offering someone (we can't see) a balloon, without any further context or clues.
 
So, is the balloon purely a diversion, to conceal something else that is hidden?
 
I honestly don't know, because of the process that is Automatism, and, because of how long ago this piece was created. But, this also means that the story it tells is as much yours as it is mine, and that there is no right or wrong interpretation, which is part of what makes this style of work so interesting.
