Promises
1999

Medium:
Oil on Canvas
Dimensions:
20 x 16 inches
Genre/Style:
Surrealism
Description:
Although created during my "blue" period, this painting is not directly related to that relationship, referred to her, in Blue; but instead, is a peripheral meditation on the idea of promise, or Promises.
In essence, the empty bag represents that promise, as it is in reality; whether someone's or something's potential, or, as a declaration that creates an expectation.
In either case, that promise is only ever a potentiality, by definition, rather than a definitive or predertimed conclusion.
